Place a pillow between your legs when you rest that way your knees won’t knock together uncomfortably. It will also prevent that downward pull on your hips keeping it aligned with your knees and ankles.

For the person that sleeps on their back ...

Resting on your back is one of the healthiest options for sleeping, but it still isn’t perfect. While your body has a better chance at keeping your head, neck, and spine in a neutral position, you’ll sleep better with one or two pillows tucked under your knees to ease back pressure.

For the person that sleeps on their stomach ...

It is preferred that you avoid sleeping on your stomach, but sometimes you can’t help but want to laze on your tummy. For those times, it’s best if you rest your head directly on the mattress in order to not strain it or your neck. Also, place a pillow flat under your pelvis to ensure your lower back stays aligned with the rest of your spine.

Depending on what kind of injury you have, the way you sleep can be greatly affected. If you have a sprained ankle for example, you’ll want to keep that leg propped up higher than your heart, so placing 1 to 3 pillows under your ankle will help keep the wounded area from swelling.
